Melbourne International Auction 2019 Spring Auctions

 AUCTIONS    |      2023-07-26

Melbourne International Auctions Limited (MIA) held its first auction in November 2019 at Crowne Plaza Waterfront, Melbourne, Australia. This auction showcases nearly 400 spectacular works of art, including paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, and more. All the exquisite lots were actually screened by experts after being screened. Among them, one lot was sold for more than US $ 2 million, and the total auction amount exceeded the original expected value of US $ 20 million.

Most of the artworks exhibited at this auction have been collected for more than 50 years and have only been exhibited in private places. They have never been sold publicly before. Many of the paintings and calligraphy in this auction come from well-known Chinese collectors from the 1940s to 1960s, as well as those who have made great contributions to and changed the history of Chinese art, such as Wang Jiqian, Zhang Daqian, Gao Juhan, etc.

The auction scene was crowded, and the overall auction results exceeded expectations. Telephone bidding is also very hot. More than a dozen telephones on the auction commissioning table are one after another, and there are constant competitions for telephone calls for some exquisite lots. A Qing Dynasty emperor carmine red embellishment was particularly noticeable and also achieved very good results. From the perspective of porcelain appreciation, this piece of porcelain can be said to be a very wonderful Qianlong imperial kiln. From the auction results, its transaction price far exceeds expectations. It can be seen that the fine still needs market inspection and has been collected by collectors Recognition.
